Sometimes, the little things make journaling feel more fun – the perfect pen, a cute sticker, or even a beautifully designed notebook. Recently, I visited two Asian stationery stores in Seattle: MochiThings and MUTO. Both reminded me why I love surrounding myself with small joys while writing, planning or reflecting.
MochiThings
MochiThings is full of really cute stationery and lifestyle goods. The moment you step inside, you’re welcomed by an open space filled with curated items.
I couldn’t resist picking up a few stickers and a bookmark for one of my many books on my TBR list (we’ll talk about that some other time).
The one I went to is only steps away from Pike Place, but trust that I will make my way to their second location in Tukwila!
They also have their online store: https://shop.mochithings.com/ for those who want to check out what they have!

MUTO
MUTO, right next to MochiThings in Downtown Seattle, is a store that blends stationery with home items. From the moment I walked in, I felt inspired by all the thoughtful, aesthetically pleasing things on display.
I picked up a couple of fridge magnets here that reminded me why I love going into these local stores – to find things that I normally wouldn’t find anywhere else. While MUTO isn’t purely stationery-focused, its carefully chosen items made me feel like exploring the store was part of the creative process.

Why Visiting Stationery Stores Matters
While I get the majority of my stationery items online, visiting stationery stores is an entirely different experience. I get to immerse myself more and am able to pick out items a lot more intentionally. There’s something about seeing, touching, and exploring these items in real life that makes picking out stationery so much more fun.
It’s not just about the products, it’s about the feeling they inspire.
